Summary/Review:
I did not expect this book to touch me the way that it did. It transported me 27 years back when I was in Afsi’s shoes feeling small and watching the world go by around me while I struggled to stay afloat. It does an excellent job at explaining the emotional turmoil Afsi experiences while learning English.
This book, this story is a reflection of the battles of a child thrown in a new place where she doesn’t speak the language and struggles connect with everyone in the new environment. It is also a great read for peers of the child who may learn to understand the struggles of someone new in the class.
