Summary/Review:
I have been eager to get a copy of this book since I have seen it announced years ago. With soooo many options for Ramadan and Eid books, Hajj stories are few and far between. The wait and the anticipation has been worth the patience. This book is so beautiful and has reignited my longing to go for Hajj. The story is beautiful, the Islam is gentle, the illustrations are vibrant. I truly love this book. This story has so many layers. It is about the sharing and being thankful and offers the small glimpse of the diversity of our ummah, all unified for the same act of worship: to fulfill one of the 5 pillars in Islam. Mariam shares her Zamzam water with others and in turn they all say thank you in their respective languages and offer to share a treat in return. There are 4 pages of backmatter that offer more information about the story of Zamzam, Treats and Thanks from around the World, as well as information about Hajj and Umrah.

This book is an example that traditionally published books do not shy away from authentically and unapologetically representing Islam.
