Summary/Review:
When I first flipped through the book, I did think like it was a lot of text to wade through. However the approach made the read go by fast and enjoyable. The author has presented the information as an open discussion with the reader. Uses daily examples to bring relatability to the young reader and straight forwardness for clarity.
The book is really well done and cleverly thought out. It really touches on crucial information for Muslim tweens about their path in life and their role as a individual Muslims as well as in the community. It discusses growing up, awra, boundaries, physical changes, online safety and much more. What I love about this book is that it always brings the discussion back to Allah swt and Islam to reinforce to the reader that we must always go back to our deed as a source.
I would highly suggest that the parents read this book first for 2 reasons: 1 – to decide of their child is ready (mature) to soak up the information in the book and 2 – so that you are aware of the information they have consumed and are ready to answer their questions and make clarifications for them if needed.
I think this book is so far the best source in the market about the coming of age of Muslim kids which discusses both genders. Because not only do our kids need to learn about their own body but also the opposite gender.
