Review:
As you all know, when @ruqayas.bookshelf publishes any book, it is an automatic purchase for me and my kids. When I read the synopsis, I was so curious how this story was executed. I am not going to lie, I personally have come to resent books that compare Ramadan/Eid to Christmas holidays. BUT this story is different; it is so cleverly told. No comparison is ever made. It’s about family love and respect.

Rayan’s voice and worries come through the story so relatable for the young character. In Muslim stories, usually Muslims are the ones struggling to fit into the greater society. Here, the Christian grandpa, fitting into a Muslim setting, is a refreshing perspective for Muslim readers, as well as others. The multifaith family dynamic is really portrayed in a heartwarming way. Beautiful story in time for Ramadan.

This story won the Best Muslim Holiday Book of 2023!
