Amar’s Fajr Reward

Story by Amire Hoxha

An exciting story of a Muslim child learning to love salah in the Masjid.

Amar is not very eager to pray fajr at the masjid with his grandfather. It’s cold outside, and he’s so sleepy! He would much rather pray at home and jump back into his cozy bed.

His early morning trip to the masjid is turned upside down when his grandfather twists his ankle jumping over the courtyard wall! Can Amar help Gjyshi? And will he discover the value of prayer at the masjid?

“In all my years of reviewing I have not read many
Kosovar books, and of those few,
none have been OWN voice, and all have focused on the war.”

“As someone from the Balkan’s , I am beyond excited and elated to finally own this adorable Muslim children’s picture book set up in Kosovo . There is definitely a lack of representation of Muslim kosovars in the Muslim kid lit space so it was really high time we finally had a book with characters from that region.”

“The story was very endearing and moving mashallah. It made me yearn to be in a small neighborhood where everyone knew everyone and, most importantly, where the masjid was within walking distance. I love the relationship between the boy and his grandfather and the values he was instilled with. All in all, a beautifully written story that brings about a feeling of nostalgia and love and attachment to the masjid.”

“I loooove that this book subtly highlights Muslim Kosovar representation, which pretty much never gets acknowledged in Muslim kidlit.”
