This book is not new. It was published in Australia a couple of years ago, I had looked for it in my library at that time with no results. Late fall I was at the library I noticed it on display and had to grab it.
Eid is approaching and Maymoona is certain that she wants to spot the new crescent moon. While the family prepares for Eid celebrations with decorations and various traditional dishes, Maymoona makes a plan and sets her plan in motion to be the first to see the moon. She patient and waits and waits…until…she spots it. That means Eid is here.
It is a story of family, celebration and anticipation. I love the illustrations, so soft and wonderful. The color theme is inviting. The backmatter is informative about the hijri calendar and the Eid moon sighting. Check your local library to see if they have this title.
