Review:
This book was such a delightful surprise. I just didn’t know what to expect. I own and have reviewed Humera’s many of her books she had self-published that have always had Islam in the centre of them all. Her first book had that element missing and focused on cultural representation. So this book didn’t intrigue me much until I had seen a raving review by my dear friend @islamicschoollibrarian. I had waited for this book for months…and let me tell you…I absolutely love it!
Not only does it have such a relatable plot and character arc that ANY child, not just Muslim readers, can relate to BUT it brings Islam back the way that the Author had always done. What a delight to read this book and this story. This story is what our kids deserve to read. This story is what our children need to be inspired by. Saif’s Special Patches is the story that reminded me why I started reviewing on this page. Get this book for your masjid story time. Get this book for your child’s classroom. Get this book for your shy child/niece/nephew. Get this book.
