Review:
This this the second book in this chapter book series. The first book was published a few years ago titled Stuck in the Middle.
This book was an easy read and I was able to finish in 2 sittings. I was reading parts of it out loud to my 8yo and had us both giggling. The sibling shenanigans were sometimes comical, at times frustrating and always very relatable. I love how the different siblings embrace different personalities. Of course, Selma being the middle child finds herself always compromising. I love that Selma is the voice of reason, and we can read through her thoughts in the narration so that the readers weigh and understand the thought process between right and wrong, which at times makes her a little more mature for her age. Islam is presented as a natural part of their life, but it wasn’t the center of the story. Get your hands on this book for your little readers and their classroom.
