Summary:
Ali is visiting Palestine, and it is olive harvest season. He learns a special technique on how to get most of the olives the fastest without harming the trees, especially his favourite olive tree, Hilwa.

Review:
My oh my. This heartwarming book is full of ancient tradition, rich culture and multi-generational family ties. The story is sweet and beautiful and full of joy. Ali learns a lot about the process of harvesting, processing and how resourceful olive trees are for his family and others in the village. I love that this book focuses on celebrating the joy of Palestinian traditions, thus it is not a Muslim centered book. I love the tender family ties that this story highlights, their family picnic under the olive tree. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. A must read book for all families.
