Summary:
Reem and her mother are moving from the big city to a small town right before Eid. She does not want to miss out on community Eid celebrations like every year. The quiet life in the small town is not expected to be exciting, especially for an important holiday like Eid.

Review:
This story is about the merging old and new traditions while embracing the big changes in life. Reem tradition with her mother is to make Eid cookies and share them with the large community in the big city. Making Eid cookies in the small town was of course something they can do but finding people to share it with is not going to be easy especially so soon. While the topic of new and old tradition is at the center of the story here, I expected to see rich culture to be present. Maybe this was done on purpose, I am not sure but by the time I finished the book, I realized I don’t really know the cultural background of the character and her family other than the Arabic words and the Arabic treat it keeps the identity ambiguous. This is one of those things: my expectations vs what the story is offering. The only Islam that is present in the book is in one page where Reem and her mother are in salah outfits. Overall, the message does come across as intended.
