Review:
I love that we see a culture that isn’t common in Muslim stories. The story is set in Rio Grande and the culture of living off the land is beautifully portrayed in this book. The story itself is very relatable, kids wanting to help on their own but instead things go wrong. We have all experienced an incident like this and I’m sure most kids do. Makes the story relatable no matter what background they come from. I love that in times of hardship, the dad reassures Dawud that Allah will take care of them and that promise comes through. Overall a tender story with beautiful messaging.
