📚 Zuni and the Memory Jar📚
Author: Aisha Saeed
Illustrator: Neha Rawat
Publisher: Kokila @penguinkids @penguincanada
Age: 4-8

Islamic Content: Muslim family
Concerns: There is a page with piano recital

Summary:
Zuni’s family has a memory jar. Anytime something important happens, they add photos or notes to remember the special event at the end of the year. It seems that everyone else is making memories except for little Zuni. But when the family gathers at the end of the year, they are surprised to find Zuni’s special moments.

Review:
This book is quite straight forward and somewhat predictable. Little readers will enjoy the simple story and the concept of the memory jar. There is no Islam in the text. The illustrations show the grandmother wearing Pakistani attire and oddly shown with a scarf at home and without it outside. The story is universal and has a messaging that can be relatable to all kids from all backgrounds. The author is Muslim. You can find this book at your local public library.
