Islamic Content: Centering Allah when navigating our emotions

Concerns: None

Summary/Review:

This book is simple and surface level. It focuses on Allah’s promises to help us navigate so many different emotional states our kids may find themselves in. When we feel jealous, we are reminded that Allah is never unfair. When we feel grief, Allah says with hard times comes ease. While books like these are very important to have, and serve a great benefit, I find them very difficult to have my kids read it more than once. A list of different emotions and how to help ourselves with one sentence or two seems to not stick for my little ones. While the Islamic affirmations are incredibly important and very needed on a daily basis, in this book it feels like a list your read through and when the book is finished it’s hard to recall what we have read. For me and my kids, It seems to be more effective when one of these emotions is selected and turned into a full blown story so we can get deeper into the layers.
