Summary/Review:

This is the 2nd book in the Women Around the Prophet (saws) series. The first book was about the Clever Companions. This is a non-fiction that discusses the concept of hijrah and includes biographies of three sahabiyat who have had to leave their home for something better. The women included in this book are Umm Habibah the Muhajirah, Umm Salamah the Storyteller and Asma bint AbuBakr, the one with Two Belts.

The book begins with pages of introduction of what hijrah means and why Muslims take on this journey. Each biography follows a similar structure: Introduction of the sahabiyah, three special facts, three categories that give an overview of their life and lastly how we can be more like them (may Allah be pleased with them all)

I love the fact that these books include Women Companions that we wouldn’t normally see in children’s books. The content is written in easy to understand language and it stays in focused on the theme. The illustrations are beautiful are beautiful.

This book along with the Clever Companions are a must have for schools, classrooms, masjid libraries and at home bookshelves.
