The Gift of Ramadan by Shazia Nazlee

If you are looking for a book that explains Ramadan to independent readers, then this is it.

It explains the month of Ramadan in the lunar calendar, the sighting of the moon, the tarawih prayers, the start and end of our fasting days, zakat, the importance of increased good manners and deeds, reciting the Qur’an, dua for breaking our fast, laylatul-Qadr and of course Eid.

This book is very straight forward. All the information you need to know about Ramadan is included. The illustrations are bland as you will see on the photos above. So frustrating to see a spelling error and the text overlapping an image on one of the pages.

In my humble opinion, we need to increase the expectations of our Islamic children’s books instead of accepting the poor quality offerings. Yes, Islamic teachings are important and so is the way we present them to our kids.
